At BCB, we are committed to offering bespoke beers with great flexibility, all while maintaining impeccable quality. Given that we produce beer in cans, we also need to carry out the necessary quality controls here. It is important to note that not only does the content of the can need to be in perfect condition, but so does the can itself. With cans, we need to take an extra parameter into account: the seam or the closure of the lid.

The Quality Laboratory at BCB (PART 2) Can Seam Control

A correct can seam is essential to maintain the freshness and safety of our products. An incorrect seam can cause leaks, oxidation, and spoilage of the beverages. That is why, in our quality laboratory, we use an advanced device that accurately analyses the closure of our cans using state-of-the-art X-ray camera technology.
The device takes images of the closure and measures essential parameters such as cover hook, body hook, overlap, seam thickness, seam length, etc., with extreme precision. This visual inspection makes it possible to detect even the smallest deviations. The test results from our quality laboratory provide crucial information for our production and can indicate the need for any adjustments to the closure.
One of the major advantages of our measuring devices is the flexibility in the control process. In contrast to manual controls, which are often time-consuming and prone to errors, this device delivers fast and reliable results.
Thanks to this technology, we can quickly identify deviations in our quality laboratory and recommend improvements to guarantee our quality.
